3D Moment

March 13th, 2008

After the class I got the feeling that I was misunderstood. I would like to explain my motives and way of looking at the picture I brought and other relevant pictures.

Camera, the machine who captures time, freeze moments. Pictures where considered for many years as real and reliable, cameras don’t lie. But as was soon discovered people do, pictures became viewed not for their realness but for their reliability, pictures can be faked, staged and today easily computer manipulated. The one sidedness of the camera and the photographer control over the moment captured became known.

In my idea the reliability of the picture is one of the most interesting things in photography. Not its realness, I don’t mind if a picture is computer manipulated as long as it is reliable (could happen rather then did).

With the introduction of digital cameras the low costs accessibility to photography became widely spread. Wild snap shots flooded the world many times skipping the printing stage and staying in its file format (perhaps its natural form?).

I find the motives for taking those wild pictures very interesting will most of them still function as a documentary tool (people, places, moments). Today it’s hardly possible talking about something without seeing it. In art, artists start documenting their work trough photography even if the work is a 3d object, movie or a live art performance. To go and see an art work is hard and complicated, 99% of the artists I know where represented to me by pictures of their art pieces.

The critical moment as was considered in the early days of photography is not as important as it use to be, now by staging a picturee you can have all the moments in the world. One minute sculptures of Erwin Wurm is a good example for an interesting breakthrough. While being officially a sculpture, the duration of its existence is short while its visual representation stays as echoes in the memory of the observers. Images (planted memory) to the interested and as conceptual references in text through its instructions. So if we choose to separate the three we get 3 different art pieces reaching different points.

I would like to talk about the second option, 3d art represented through image, if the image is strong enough it may become an independent art piece. What form of the 3d quality stays in the picture? Can a picture of the world keep its 3d quality and be art? can the process be opposite, see, take picture, reenact in 3d?

The 3d installation I saw was a cause of change, for same reason I found its 3d qualities fascinating the snap shot I took was a documentation of the installation. Recreated in a different place might be considered a 3d art work.

The second picture / poster follows the line of one minute sculpture, while its importance is not in its actual 3d existence, more in can it exist? (Do you believe it can be 3d?) Maybe remembering the picture is enough and the sculptor doesn’t need to be seen.

Some of my line of thought. Hope I didn’t confused you in its disorganized way…

“I’m talking about art filters!”

“Art is not reality, you know I think its something parallel to science. If science is a way of looking at reality then art is the same. What we make is only filters, nothing more, art is an objective filter (I made it). But by looking through my filter using your reality you can see a new and independent reality. By doing so, the image seen is as close to subjective as can be, use MY real on reality with your eyes = subjective, no?
We create art(filter), a private interpretation of reality. When exhibit we lose control over it, people are free to find their own interpretation in it, I don’t feel so good”

“I need to go to the toilet”

“Move if you don’t want an accident to happen !!!”

Baaau…uHuaaa….

On my knees in Charley’s toilets, great party! how come I’m only serious about my art when I’m drunk?

80% of my computer sessions contain browsing through porn websites and “occasionally” masturbation.
I don’t know if it’s because of the easy accessibility of porn, habit, addictive behavior or the satisfaction in a job well done.
The fact is it doesn’t matter how many times I have seen it, I know there is nothing new going on.
Where are the days when a well tight shirt could have pushed me over.
Now the volume need to be so high that even “Packing Serious fudge” doesn’t do the trick.

Have a look at this !!!!!
